About Decor and You DC | Interior Decorators and Designers

At Decor and You DC our interior decorators and designers work to simplify how people achieve comfort, style and value in their DC area homes and businesses.  Whether kitchen design, a bathroom updating or a complete interior make over, we’re thrilled to be in a position to accomplish it. And, we are confident we can because at Decor and You DC attention to the individual is in our DNA.

We know that our residential clients love homes that reflect themselves. Clients who open their doors to our trained professional interior decorators can expect a DecorPlan™ that leads to a uniquely individual environment. They can also look forward to “hands-on” management, which comes with a level of attentive service and accountability that is increasingly rare in the American business landscape.

We know that our commercial clients love the benefits of occupying interior spaces that emphasize brand personality and character. Our interior decorators capture and reflect brand values in each DecorPlan we create for the offices, restaurants, waiting rooms and hotel rooms our commercial clients own or lease.

Our value proposition is simple:

  1. Three (3) custom designs for each project not just one;
  2. An all-inclusive price for design and furniture, no surprise hourly charges or membership fees; and
  3. Design implementation all at once or in phases.

Our full-service firm offers custom furnishings, upholstery, window treatments including draperies, valances, shades, blinds and shutters, lighting, carpeting, accessories, space planning and color schemes. Whether you are renovating a kitchen, remodeling an office, or modernizing a bedroom, we are prepared and ready to turn your ideas into reality.

About Sandra Hambley

Sandra leads a team of creative, yet sensible interior decorators with decades of experience in home & office decorating and interior design.  Sandra and her team of interior design consultants have a proven track record and a sizable list of satisfied clients that reside and work in the Greater Washington, DC and Northern Virginia region (Baltimore-Washington Corridor). Sandra’s success is due in large part to her well-rounded knowledge and experience with interior decoration and effective service delivery.

A native of western Pennsylvania, Sandra graduated from Penn State University and settled in Fairfax County, Virginia nearly 20 years ago. Following a successful career at Capital One, she launched an interior decorating business with a focus on residential living spaces and office décor. Concurrently, she completed her study with internationally acclaimed author and designer, Mary Gilliatt, in the US and France. In just three years, Sandra grew her team of interior decorators and designers from zero to 12, garnering the most awards for sales and design in the history of Decor&You. Over a span of 5 years, she and her team, now totaling 14 interior decorators, have worked with hundreds of area homeowners and businesses from all over the greater Washington, DC area, primarily in Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William counties.

This tremendous growth in business led to the area’s first regional office in Tysons Corner, Virginia, creating a permanent home for her regional design studio.  Sandra’s team, covering Virginia, Maryland and Washington D.C. leads the company in sales and design awards because of their focus on customer service and their ability to exceed client expectations. ‘My clients are busy professionals who expect to work with designers who are flexible and provide practical and innovative solutions to their furnishing and window treatment challenges.”  A testament to the success of Sandra’s customer-centric philosophy can be found in the Washington Post’s February invitation for Sandra’s team to solve a design challenge in House Calls, a popular Home section feature.

In addition to managing the fast-paced, entrepreneurial demands of a regional interior decorating business in the Baltimore/Washington corridor, Sandra teaches business and decorating classes in Prince George’s County, Maryland and Fairfax County, Virginia. She also is a supporter of the charity ChildHelp, and a member of several organizations that promote entrepreneurship and women in business.

How Decor and You corporate describes Sandra:

Surpassing the Energizer
Sandra Hambley – Virginia & Maryland Regional Developer

From morning until evening, Sandra Hambley is continually recharged by the fast-paced, entrepreneurial demands of managing a regional decorating business.  Sandra manages a team of interior decorators in the Baltimore/Washington corridor, with hundreds of clients, so there’s a lot on her plate: marketing and media, product research, coaching decorators, interfacing with clients, troubleshooting projects, financial management… and more.  It sounds hectic by most measures, but for Sandra it adds up to “pride and fulfillment” compared to the demands of corporate work.

Sandra is a native of western Pennsylvania and a graduate of Penn State University, who transplanted to Fairfax County nearly 20 years ago. Sandra enjoyed a successful career at Capital One, which she believes prepared her well for the ultimate challenge… entrepreneurship and Decor&You. In just three years, Sandra grew her team of interior decorators from zero to 12, garnering the most awards for sales and design in the history of Decor&You.

Nowhere near slowing down, Sandra just recruited the first Decor&You territory director in the nation and acquired a condominium office space in Herndon, creating a permanent home for her regional design studio. In February, the Washington Post invited Sandra’s team to solve a design challenge in House Calls, a popular Home section feature.

About Mary Gilliatt, Corporate & International Design Advisor

In 2004 she published Mary Gilliatt’s Dictionary of Architecture & Interior Design, an essential desk reference for anyone who works in or writes about the engaging world of design.

Mary Gilliatt currently sits on the advisory board of the leading design school in America, the New York School of Interior Design, which is proposing to launch the first interior design college in Dubai. Decor&You is fortunate to have Mary Gilliatt on its training faculty, where each year she teaches several classes of trainees.
